Why Judging Is Merely A Reflection Of Your Own Character

Great minds discuss ideas.

Average minds discuss events.

Small minds discuss people.Eleanor Roosevelt.

How easy is it for you to just say something about someone? A passing comment? A remark of some kind? How easy is it for you to just jump on that bandwagon… without even realising?

It might be someone you just see on the street, in passing? Someone you briefly meet? Someone you’ve just heard of through a friend? An acquaintance? A work colleague? A distant relative?

Essentially, someone you, yourself don’t really know.

How is that a fair judgement of them?

I know what you’re thinking…

We are all entitled to our thoughts and views? That’s understandable…BUT .. are they valid thoughts and views to even consider?

I want you to really question how much you talk about or judge others.

Does this add anything to your life? This is valuable time wasted for you, that is not supporting or shaping you positively.

It is not adding any value to your life.

You are not learning anything new by judging others and fixating on these judgements. For fixating on them, is just placing a magnifying glass on a thought that may not even be valid?

AND.. if we are able to flip the switch and consider if from the other side..

How is it fair on the person being judged, at all? Do you even know them?  I mean, do you truly know them? Do you know them well enough to form an opinion of them yourself?

If the answer is no to the above, then please just hold and contain them thoughts. For they may not speak the honest truth.

If the answer is no to the above, isn’t it better to say so?  – ‘I don’t know so and so well enough to comment’ and be done with it… No bad vibes evoked. Ta dah!

For judging someone is merely a reflection of your own character, your own experiences and your own values.

Judging someone is easy.

However…taking time to really get to know another person…that’s special…that’s humane.

Moral of the story:

You don’t know what everyone is going through.

You don’t know what they live and breathe.

...so I suggest before you judge them…

Just think – is the thought/remark valid and worth sharing?

Be Kind – always! ❤
