2020. What a year! A whole bloody year!
It’s weird to comprehend what this year has been like for many of us.
To some, the time has just flown by, and we just can’t quite grasp how it’s the already the end of the year.
To others, it just feels like the year has lasted simply forever… was 2021 ever coming around?
Through all the turmoil and uncertainty that 2020 has bought, I believe it has taught us a lot of valuable lessons which we ought to take forward with us in 2021.
I’ve jotted my top twenty lessons I’d like to share with you… 😀
- Giving time and attention to those aspects of your life you really value is the new ‘hip’ currency.
- Realising what is actually really important to you. What really drives you and what you want in life. We have had ample time to really reflect on what makes us tick.
- Health is wealth, truly.
- Tough times don’t last, tough people do. The end is in sight. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how bleak it may appear in the moment. We are officially out of 2020 should be hope enough…
- You are always stronger than you may think. Surviving 2020 is clear proof of that. A year of pure craziness.
- Mental health is invaluable, and not something that should be neglected. Your focus on mental well-being should be alike to physical health and wellbeing.
- Time is a limited resource, use your time wisely. Choose who and what you spend it on with true intention
- Don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ time to do what you want to do – take that plunge. For the perfect time is simply an illusion in your mind delaying you from living the life you want, the life that is within your reach!
- Take ownership of your life, for it is entirely in your hands, and not in the hands of others. If you want something to change, take the first step.
- Self-care should be your number 1 priority, not a privilege.
- Live in the moment, for that is the only certain thing we have. This year has taught me not to fixate on planning for the future so much so, but really take in where I am at present.
- Take time out to really appreciate the little things in our life that are often overlooked. Gratitude is everything.
Quality time with family and friends. A scenic walk outdoors. A good movie. A lovely dinner. Face times, Phone calls, Text messages from loved ones.
- Only you know what is best for you. Trust your instincts.
- You are entitled to feel the way you do. It’s been a tough year for everyone in their own unique way. Never feel your emotions are not valid or important.
- Focus on what you can control and simply let the rest fall into place.
- Relationships are everything, whether it be with family or friends. This year has really highlighted the importance of healthy relationships. Through this tough year, I think it has become very apparent who is really there for you and who isn’t.
- The importance of practising strong boundaries. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to leave. It’s okay to start-over. It’s important to do what is right for yourself and your sanity.
- Change is inevitable. Learning to be adaptable is so important. This has been so prevalent in lockdown, with virtually all offices now working from home.
- Self – love is the most important type of love. Always make sure you have time set aside for you, to be in your own company, your own space.
- Life is short, do more of what makes you happy. This year has proven it. How has a whole year just flown by!? Being in lockdown has surely heightened the ‘fast-pacedness’ of life, the days passing by. However, if we think logically, time has not really gone any faster than it would normally do so in any other year.
Therefore, we really ought to fulfil our dreams right this moment, never wait for it to happen, for the perfect time, for the perfect situation, for someone else. It’s in your hands. ❤
❤ Happy New Year – 2021 ❤
